Getting you started

Your first few weeks are critical to stabilising your systems and putting the right processes and technologies in place to keep them managed.

Week 1

Understanding your business

The first task is to understand how your business operates, how customers benefit from your goods and services and how this generates revenue. We take a look at your strategy, P & L statements and meet with key leaderhip. Understanding this provides us with the information to tune your IT systems to accelerate your business.

Week 2

Documenting your system architecture

The first task is to get your systems, their integrations and key details documented, by doing this, any improvements made to the systems can be analysed to determine their side effects. This also becomes important for change management, troubleshooting issues and business continuity planning.

Week 3

Establishing controls for operations

We establish a Help Desk system for you, one or more of your staff members are coached and supported to triage system problems and we can begin to get an idea on what the common problem areas are. An effective incident management process means user problems are sorted quickly and business experiences minimal disruption.

Week 4

Staff and key processes

Key processes are mapped out, documenting how they utilise your systems. During this activity, key staff are interviewed to determine what improvement outcomes they would like.

Week 5

Continuous improvement to begin delivering improvements

Not all improvements require large projects. Many of the improvements identified can achieved with simple small activities. A framework to identify, prioritise and assign these initiatives provides a continuous process to achieve the improvements.

Week 6

Risk management and business continuity

The critical dependency on systems means that the risks of loosing access to those systems needs to be minimised and managed. All systems fail from time to time, and the ability to reduce the likelihood of this happening, and how to keep the business moving when it does, is critical.

Week 7

Vendor management

The best trainers and supporters of your systems are your vendors. Bringing them onboard to support their systems, without being baffled by techno mumbo-jumbo, is a great way to unleash a resource that you may not have been making full use of to date.

IT Board Advisory

Don't just create a sustainable business. Create a business that is worth sustaining.

Risk management

Having visibility of the risks that IT exposes you to, as well as using IT to reduce other risks, results in a smaller demand funds held in reserve, supporting business continuity and operational confidence.

Compliance

What are your regulatory obligations, how does this change when you work internationally? Who in the organisation is responsible ensuring compliance and are they doing this adequately?

Strategic alignment

Good use of IT can accelerate an organisation, creating competitive advantages as it supports finance, HR, operations and other disciplines, but this needs to be done intentionally and collaboratively as the whole organisation pulls in the same direction.

Digital Transformation

Don't just upgrade the technology in your business, transform your business by implementing technology that reframes how you work and the value you offer to your customers. Such transformations, identified and supported by the board can turn businesses around and provide the quantum lift you are seeking. How do you use IT to extract the maximum value from an acquisition?

Due diligence for M&A

As with all ventures, it pays to go into them with eyes wide open, not blind hope and optimism. Is your technology stack open to adopting additional business units? What is the health of the IT in a business you are about to acquire? Are there hidden costs waiting for you after aquisition?

Raising performance expectations

Have you got eyes on the correct metrics and do you have rapid-cycle plans to move the dial? Is your change effort focused on what is valuable, or what is busy?

IT Security Audit

Your organisation is critically dependant on IT. Give your investors, customers and the public confidence in your operations with an qualified IT Security audit and resulting action plan.

Governance and management

Auditing governance and management practices ensures that strategies approved by the board are carried out at the coal face, that risks are being managed well and that the right accountabilities are in place to drive behaviours.

System aquisition, development and implementation

Put in place the practices to allow for stress free system changes and upgrades, avoid bad system selection decisions and prevent the vendor sales team pull the wool over your eyes.

Info systems operations

How correct is your data? Are the necessary digital hygiene procedures in place to make sure that you can always depend on your systems to process your work and give you the right information?

Business resilience

Investors, staff and customers depend on your business surviving stormy weather, we will provide a qualified and evidenced audit to let you know where your strengths and weaknesses lie and a list of actions to complete to give you the best chance of surviving the unexpected.

Protecting your assets

Cyber attacks are on the increase, and the aftermath of one can cause your business to close it's doors permanently. In a rapidly evolving landscape it's important to stay one step ahead of the game.
